At the SYNYPARXIS branch in Thessaloniki (200 Monastiriou Street), a particularly beautiful art exhibition was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Migration and Asylum’s Unit for the Integration and Support of Unaccompanied Minors. The works were created by unaccompanied minors staying in shelters throughout the greater Thessaloniki area.
As Ms. Aroni, head of the Unit for the Integration and Support of Unaccompanied Minors, emphasized, the exhibition is dedicated to the “5 E’s” of children’s rights: Freedom, Expression, Education, Survival, and Leisure, giving children a space to speak through their creativity.
Through paintings, collages, mosaics, woodwork, and other original pieces, the young artists shared their own perspective on the world, the experiences they carry with them, and the future they envision. Each work served as a small window into their thoughts, sensibilities, and strength.
Mr. Paralikakis, SYNYPARXIS’s Northern Greece Program Coordinator, representing the General Director, Father Panteleimon Papasynéfakis, noted that “the children’s works highlight not only their artistic expression but also their mental resilience.” At the same time, he emphasized that “SYNYPARXIS will continue to support initiatives that promote respect, protection, and empowerment of childhood.”
The aim of this initiative is to highlight the value of art as a tool for inclusion and empowerment, offering children who are often marginalized the opportunity to express their thoughts, needs, and rights within a creative and safe space.
The exhibition is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, through December 5, at 200 Monastiriou Street.
