Participation of our shelter in the festival “Connected We Stand”

The multi-themed volunteering festival for young people, ‘Connected We Stand’ Festival, brought civil society to life in a celebration of volunteering, giving and peace. Young people, volunteers and spectators joined forces in parallel actions to raise awareness of issues related to solidarity, active participation and changing attitudes through everyday actions. All actions, such as Festivals of a social nature, have a catalytic role in social cohesion and create bonds and connections with our humanitarian background, with everything that makes us active members of society.

Our children, along with their caregivers, participated in the said festival. There, a lot of people were informed about the operation of Synyparxis and the “home” in Thessaloniki. We were honored with their presence by the Deputy Minister of Immigration, Mr. Voultepsi, and the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr. Zervas, who were also informed about Synyparxis.

Our children prepared a workshop with the help of our psychosocial team, which was entitled “No one is alone”. This action was about mutual help, solidarity and respect for fellow human beings. Afterwards, our children participated in Festival activities such as creating puzzles, watching taekwondo matches and participating in gymnastics with the teams, while also being on stage where there were DJs and concerts.

* The shelter for unaccompanied minors operates in the framework of the program “Creation and operation of Shelters for Unaccompanied Minor Refugees and Migrants” funded by the Sectoral Development Program of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum.
