On 15/05/2026, the Mobile Unit of the “Compass” Center in Athens carried out its second visit to the Malakasa camp, specifically to the Safe Zone for unaccompanied minors, as part of its ongoing specialized support interventions for unaccompanied children.
During the visit, the team facilitated a group psychotherapeutic session focused on emotional self-regulation and coping with stress, uncertainty, and the challenges of everyday life. The intervention also included experiential and creative activities designed to encourage participation, self-expression, and interaction among the children.
The visit built on a first introductory meeting held in March, during which the Mobile Unit team provided both individual and group psychotherapeutic support sessions, offering children a safe and supportive space to meet the professionals, share their concerns, and express their thoughts and needs.
The Mobile Unit of the “Compass” Athens Center operates as a flexible outreach service, bringing the project’s specialized support directly to locations where it is most needed: including accommodation facilities, Safe Zones, and supported living settings for unaccompanied minors.
Its multidisciplinary team, consisting of psychologists, social workers, interpreters, and a vocational guidance counselor, delivers individual and group therapeutic and supportive interventions aimed at improving children’s access to mental health, psychosocial support, and empowerment services.
Through its consistent presence and close collaboration with facility staff and legal guardians, the Mobile Unit plays an important role in promoting the well-being, resilience, and social inclusion of unaccompanied children.
* The visit took place as part of the implementation of the “C0mpass” project – Complementary Support Mechanism for the National Strategy for the Protection of Unaccompanied Minors in Greece,” with code OPS 6010542 and funding from the 2021-2027 European Fund for Refugees, Migration, and Integration.
