On Saturday, the refugee children residing in the shelters of SYNYPARXIS had the opportunity to experience a unique event by attending a wheelchair basketball match! Accompanying the children on this special day were the President of AMKE “Synyparxis – Ecumenical Refugee Program,” Metropolitan Bishop Athinagoras of Ilion, Acharnes, and Petroupoli, the General Director Arch. Panteleimon Papasinefakis, as well as the staff members.
In collaboration with UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees), the match between PASKA and Alexandrer the Great of OS.E.K.A. took place at the METS stadium. The event was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Migration and Asylum, Ms. Sofia Voultepsi, Mr. Dimitris Anyfantakis, and the Special Secretary of Protection of Unaccompanied Minors, Mr. Iraklis Moskov.
Through this activity, our children came to understand that among us, there are remarkable and admirable individuals who, despite their limited mobility, manage to emerge as winners through courage, passion, and strong determination. They realized that with the power of the soul, nothing is impossible and that in this battle, there were no losers, only winners!
The icing on the cake was the presence of Zakery, Baghzamphehfar, who, speaking the children’s language, engaged with them. Iman became the absolute hero of the stands, taking photos with many refugee children and enjoying their warm applause and hugs.
