Announcement of the new action between SYNYPARXIS and AEK B.C.

“SYNYPARXIS – Ecumenical Refugee Program” of the Church of Greece and AEK BC are expanding their actions within the framework of their cordial cooperation – since 2019 – and announce:

On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, a delegation of the “Queen” is going to visit the Shelter for Unaccompanied Minor Refugees of AMKE “SYNYPARXIS”, in Aspropyrgos. The “Union” will be welcomed to the Shelter by the Chairman of the Steering Committee of “SYNYPARXIS”, His Eminence Metropolitan of Ilio, Acharnes and Petroupolis, Mr. Athenagoras, and the General Director, His Eminence Archimandrite Fr. Panteleimon Papasynnefakis.

In more detail, athletes, coaches and executives of AEK BC, accompanied by Sponsors of the AEK BC Organization, will give joy to the children of the Shelter, in the spirit of the upcoming Holy Days. The launch of the Program is scheduled at 10:30, at the Accommodation Shelter for Unaccompanied Refugee Minors, where AEK BC and the Sponsors will offer rich gifts and necessary goods to the children, as well as surprises, which will be revealed in the next period. At 11:30, at the Aspropyrgos “Georgios Tsokas” Indoor Gym, the AEK athletes will indulge in improvement exercise classes for the children, will talk to them about the value of cooperation and teamwork and also will sign autographs.

“SYNYPARXIS – Ecumenical Refugee Program”, an urban non-profit company of the Church of Greece, operates a Shelter for Unaccompanied Minors in the Aspropyrgos area as part of the implementation of the project “Operation of shelters for unaccompanied minors of the Church of Greece ASPROPYRGOS Shelter” (MIS Code: 5164428) which is financed by TPA of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum. In the F.A.A. Shelter of the Agency, services are offered that cover the entire spectrum of the protection of minors, from basic human needs (shelter, food, etc.) to preparation for autonomy and social integration. The main directions of the services provided, refer to the safety and protection of minors, the development of the person’s personality, the maturation to be able to consciously exercise their rights and finally, their emancipation.

Since the beginning of 2020, “SYNYPARXIS” has been operating 5 accommodation shelters for unaccompanied refugee minors throughout Greece, within the framework of the Project “Creation and operation of accommodation shelters for unaccompanied minors of the Church of Greece” with funding initially from the National Program of the Asylum, Immigration and Inclusion from February 2022 by the Sectoral Development Program of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum.

They accommodate approximately 200 children aged 6 to 17, whose number is to increase in the near future with the operation of new accommodation shelters.

In addition to shelter and the provision of the necessary, with the help of approximately 125 experienced professionals of various specialities, the children have access to – valuable – psychosocial and legal support and to medical care, while they receive the educational and social bases and opportunities, which will enable them to fulfill their dreams in the future.
