“I Support my Friends” in SYNYPARXIS shelters

Peer support is a WHO, UNICEF and Save the Children tool called “I Support my Friends” which aims to teach peer support to minors. SYNYPARXIS staff was specifically trained on this tool by Dr. Nancy Baron on the initiative of the General Secretary for Vulnerable Citizens and Institutional Protection of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum in the framework of the implementation of the third level of the “Mental Health Hub” project.
Thus, the first training of the refugee children staying in a SYNYPARXIS shelter was successfully carried out, which provided the boys with the appropriate knowledge and skills to be able to support a peer. The basic principles are empathy and understanding towards the peer, but always with special attention so that they can also preserve their personal boundaries.
