“As you did it to one of the least of these … you did it to me”. (Μatthew 25:40)

His Beatitude Ieronymos II, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece has cosigned along with 30 other leaders of Christian churches and organisations across Europe a joined Easter statement regarding the support of refugees, initiated by the Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME)

Against the background of the dark times in Ukraine, the coordinated response and concrete solidarity of Europe towards the fleeing populations consist a sign of hope and encouragement, putting into action the evangelical sayings for supporting the “strangers” and those in need. The welcoming of the refugees from Ukraine by countries, governments, organisations, individuals and -not the least- Churches should be an example and commitment for the future to be extended to all those in need.
