One of the primary lessons taught to all the children hosted by “SYNYPARXIS” for years is the act of helping those in need. Specifically, those who have experienced this generous gift themselves in their times of difficulty. So, whenever our homeland faces a problem, they are the first to ask: Can we help in some way? And now, after the massive disaster that struck our country, leaving thousands of our fellow citizens in dire conditions having lost everything, this question has resurfaced. With the blessing of our Most Revered President, Metropolitan of Ilion Mr. Athanagoras, the General Director of “SYNYPARXIS,” Archimandrite Panteleimon Papasynephakis, coordinated the efforts of the organization’s five shelters, and they collected: 350 boxes of milk, 36 blankets, 84 sets of basic clothing items, each containing a set of bed linens, a pillow, a blanket, a large towel, a synthetic sleeping mattress, and a waterproof mattress cover, along with women’s clothing. The delivery was made to the Municipalities of Korydallos and Oreokastro for immediate transfer to the affected areas. Furthermore, the collection of essential items by the children and more than 160 employees will continue to be delivered to the relief efforts of the local Holy Metropolises.
“Give freely to others and lend without expecting anything in return” is the lesson taught by the Gospel, and the unaccompanied underage refugee children of “SYNYPARXIS” put this into practice every day. They do it for their fellow human beings and for our homeland, which opened its arms and cared for them with affection when their lives were in danger.
