Canadian and Greek students in our shelter

As part of the Greek-Canadian meeting on the theme of the “Stranger,” organized by the Department of Social Theology at the University of Athens (EKPA) and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Centre for Hellenic Studies at the Department of Global Humanities of Simon Fraser University (SFU) based in Vancouver, Canada, an informative visit was made to one of the Unaccompanied Minors Reception Centers of SYNYPARXIS.

The students and accompanying professors were welcomed by the General Director of SYNYPARXIS, Arch. Panteleimon Papasynefakis, and the Director of Social and Legal Services, Ms. Athanasia Kotsiatou. After providing a detailed presentation on the work of the Church of Greece regarding refugees through our organization, all the psychosocial, legal, and educational support services for minors were extensively discussed. Coordinator Mr. D. Aslanis presented the daily program of a facility as well as the activities followed by the minors. This was followed by a constructive dialogue which the students raised their inquiries and questions regarding the work being carried out. Accompanying the students on behalf of the Department of Social Theology were Mr. S. Despotis, Mr. K. Kefaleas, Mr. A. Michaelidis, and Dr. James Horncastle, Dr. Eirini Kotsovili representing SFU.
