The SYNYPARXIS of the Church of Greece from the very moment of its involvement with child protection and the hosting of unaccompanied refugee minors did not just envision spaces for living but a place where one could learn to build their life after a long period of trials and suffering.
Most of these children were forced to grow up abruptly, experiencing the harshest aspects of life at the most sensitive age. War, fear, uprooting, and separation have wounded their psyche. We aim to alleviate and manage this trauma by creating a safe and nurturing environment. It’s not an easy process. Through the exceptional work of our scientific staff, art has often been used as a means of expression and therapy, giving many minors the opportunity to use creativity to communicate a wide range of emotions: joy, sorrow, hope, anger, anxiety, loss. Through the arts, they depict how they see the world, projecting their experiences, visions, and hopes in a spontaneous and natural way.
The painting and photography exhibition presented from September 6th to 10th, under the auspices of the President of the Republic and with the support of OPANDA, offers visitors the opportunity to travel into the world of these children. Into yesterday and today…
