In the context of our cooperation with the organization of the Dutch Protestant Church Kerk in Actie, its General Director Mr. Jurjen de Groot and Mr. Karel J.F. Jungheim, accompanied by a Dutch television crew, paid a two-day visit to the offices and one of the hosting shelters of SYNYPARXIS on July 11 and 12, 2022. The purpose of this visit was to raise awareness among the Dutch public through a tribute in Dutch television of our action and common concern of the two organizations to face the challenges and difficulties faced by unaccompanied minor refugee children.
On Monday, July 11th, the Dutch delegation was welcomed to our offices in Athens by the General Director of Synyparxis Arch. Panteleimon Papasynefakis. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of such collaborations for the success of our efforts to provide as many opportunities as possible to children who, from a very young age, experienced being uprooted from their homelands and families. Afterwards, information was given about the diverse humanitarian work of the Church of Greece, through SYNYPARXIS, towards refugees and asylum seekers, while at the same time, valuable opinions, experiences and knowledge about the refugee issue in the European area were exchanged between the echelons of the two organizations.
On Tuesday, July 12th, the Dutch delegation visited a shelter for unaccompanied minors of SYNYPARXIS in order to see first-hand the work being done there. After the warm welcome extended to them by the General Manager of Synyparxis and the staff, our guests had the opportunity to tour the premises and chat with the staff. Also, members of the television crew interviewed the General Manager and workers while filming the life in the shelter. Afterwards, symbolic gifts were exchanged while our guests dined with the staff and children.
