Yesterday, on April 2nd, 2023, Professor Panagiotis Kordoutis from the Department of Psychology at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences presented the topic “Gender and Sexuality” to the children in our shelter.
During the introduction of the presentation, the definition of sexual expression and individual sexual orientation was discussed. Then, Mr. Kordoutis proceeded to analyze the term LGBTQ+ and the differences in the characteristics of each self-identified individual. He also mentioned the evolutionary progress of LGBTQ+ issues in Greece on a legal level, including the changes that have occurred. Finally, there was a detailed discussion about the importance of accepting LGBTQ+ individuals, their rights in society. The negative impact experienced by individuals on a psychological level when feeling alienated from their social environment, and the marginalization they face due to their sexual orientation.
Our children became more aware and engaged in the topic, actively participating with many questions and showing interest at the end of the presentation. We sincerely thank Mr. Kordoutis for his visit and presentation in our shelter!
