Visit to Hellenic Children’s Museum

Following its strategic decision to promote the social inclusion of migrants and refugees in Greece, KSPM-ERP has planned a series of educational activities for migrant and refugee children in cooperation with various museums in the area of Athens.

Through the setting up and preparation of mixed groups of children, these activities aim at encouraging interaction between local and refugee youngsters, as well as familiarizing refugee children with their new environment in order to help them develop social connections with the host society in a mutually beneficial way for both the children and the society.

The first pilot visit took place on June 2, 2019 at the Hellenic Children’s Museum. The children and their parents, refugees and Greeks, had the chance to participate in the educational programme “Interneting and protecting” addressing an issue of common interest: the use of internet by children giving them access to a world of knowledge, fun and communication but also exposing them to significant dangers (misinformation, harassment, bullying, addiction).

Ms Elli Kouvari, social worker of KSPM-ERP and coordinator of the activities, mentioned: “The kids and their families were inspired by the real world and created their own digital story using the “stop motion” technique. They worked together, enjoyed themselves and spent quality time with their parents. They acquired new ideas for having fun but, most importantly, they were informed and became aware of the risks posed when using the Internet”.
